What the Christadelphians believe...
There is but ONE God, the Father, dwelling in heaven, who, out of His own underived energy created heaven and earth, and all that is in them.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5; Mark 12:29; John 17:3; Ephesians 4:6
Jesus Christ is the Son of God begotten of the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. He was sent into the world to save men from their sins, 'whosever believeth on him will not perish, but have everlasting life.'
Luke 1:35; Luke 4:18; John 14:28; John 3:16
Man is mortal, a creature of the dust and sinful by nature. Immortality is not a present possession, but will be bestowed upon the worthy at the resurrection. In death, man is unconscious and depends upon a resurrection for future life.
Genesis 3:19; Ecclesiastes 3:19,20; Ecclesiastes 9:5,10; Psalm 6:5
The Devil is a symbol or personification of sinful human nature.
Hebrews 2:14, Hebrews 9:26
The Gospel is inseparable from the promises which God made to Abraham and David in the Old Testament times. These promises find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
Galatians 3:6-9,16,26-29; Genesis 13:14-17; Genesis 22:15-18; 2 Samuel 7:12-16; Luke 1:31-33
One of the teachings that Christadelphians have held dear for over 150 years is that the Jews would return to the land God had promised to their fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, before Jesus returned to the earth, we saw the fulfillment of the Biblical prophecy in 1948.
Deuteronomy 30:1-5; Ezekiel 37:15-22; Amos 9:14,15
Jesus will return to the earth soon. Then he will raise many of the dead, judge them with the living and give his faithful followers everlasting life in the Kingdom of God.
Acts 1:11; Matthew 25:31-34; Luke 21:27-32; John 5:28-29
At His return, we believe Jesus will establish the Kingdom of God that He taught us to pray for, "thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth"
Daniel 2:44; Daniel 7:27; Isaiah 11:9; Revelation 21:1-4
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments are the inspired word of God by which He has revealed His plan and purpose with mankind.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; Romans 15:4
Death came into the world as a result of sin. Though born into the same condition as the rest of mankind, Jesus was sinless, living his life in perfect obedience to God. By dying sinless, he eliminated the operation of death and was raised to life again by the power of God. Through him we have hope of the same.
Romans 8:3; Hebrews 2:14; Galatians 1:4; Titus 2:14
Baptism (a full immersion in water) into the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, after an understanding of God's plan, and a faithful walk therein, is essential for salvation. This first act of obedience brings man into a relationship with God.
Mark 16:16; Acts 2:37-38; John 3:5
The way to enter the kingdom of God is by faith. This involves belief in the Bible and obedience to its requirements that men and women confess their sins, repent, be baptized and follow Jesus faithfully.
Hebrews 11:6; 2 Timothy 3:16; John 3:3-5; Acts 4:12; Matthew 12:24-27
The Bible gives effective direction to our lives. We try to rely fully upon God and develop a faith which is active in prayer and good works. At the same time, however, we recognize that salvation is by grace.
With God's help, we seek to please and obey him every day, striving to imitate Jesus Christ who faithfully obeyed his Father. We therefore endeavor to be enthusiastic in work, loyal in marriage, generous in giving, dedicated in preaching and happy in our God.
